Went through a friend’s blog and totally agree with this phrase.
“Guys drink to forget about the girl, Girls drink to think back about that guy…”
It was only last Saturday where my Uni had its graduation ceremony @ Sunway Resort hotel. The few of the “hap” ones decided to celebrate and party. The plan was initially to Luna Bar @ the top floor of Menara Pan Global in KL. As always and predicted, the Saturday night jam in KL was dreadful and appalling! Being flexible KL-ians and thankful to the diverse and abundant choices of night spots in KL, we detoured to Bangsar instead, to a place called Bar Flam.
I’ve always find it interesting to observe individual’s behaviour, not to say that I’ve done much observations that night. Anyway, back to the stated point, at the bar, there were many different attitudes and moods within people. Some delighted, some melancholic; a few ecstatic and moved along with the musiq, a few stoned with qualms flowing through their minds; most starring at the widescreen of a game of soccer, a good number on the dance floor; not to forget the ONE who managed to doze off with a smile on the face.
Among these were the drunkards, the pukers, the criers, the dunno-what’s-going-on’ers. A friend of mine who complains a lot about his uninteresting life, loves getting tipsy and let the wild side suppress his real feelings, was not-so-close-to-sober then. He managed to bring out some “balls”, forgot about the melancholy and did something out of expectation (to a girl *wink*).
On the other corner of the table, there was this poignant girl who just got OUT of a relationship, drank a lil, a lil tipsy but purrfectly sober, refused to step on the dance floor even for a while. Out of the blue, tears went rolling down her cheeks and visited the washroom a million times within the few hours!
Bottom line is, though we are both homosapiens, we are different! Men can wake up one day and go “no, I have no feelings for you anymore, live with it and move on!” But women think about the sweet memories, musings and times they’ve spent together, on and on, non-stop.
What’s the whole point of drinking and getting drunk anyway? To forget or To remember? The same guy friend once told me, he likes drinking cuz it’s a way he relies and enjoys to de-stress. To those who agree, wouldn’t this consider as running-away-from-reality? A short-term relief from the cruelty of life?
It can be either way, however, I strongly believe that alcohol is not a way of solving. Your call =)
